The Roots – To Life, Love & Loot (Remix)
The Roots remixed a track from a Captain Morgan TV ad in New York and the final outcome is what you’re hearing now. Quite edgy and this definitely ‘rocks’ out.
Looks like more and more companies are branching out and reaching out to artists to become part of their campaigns nowadays huh? The Roots’ upcoming album undun is due out December 6.

The Roots – Make My (feat. Big K.R.I.T.)

Producer: Khari Mateen & The Roots
Album: undun
Label: Def Jam Records
iTunes:
The first single from the upcoming The Roots’ album Undun is now here. “Make My” features Mississippi native Big K.R.I.T. and will serve as the only guest appearance from the album. Below is a statement from Questlove regarding the concept of the project.
“At this point in our career we’d like for our work to have a unifying theme, and an experiential quality. As a DJ, I am the King of playlists, but I don’t want our albums to feel like a playlist or a mixtape for that matter. We want to tell stories that work within the album format and we want the stories to be nuanced and useful to people. undun is the story of this kid who becomes criminal, but he wasn’t born criminal. He’s not the nouveau exotic primitive bug-eyed gunrunner like Tupac’s character Bishop in “Juice”… he’s actually thoughtful and is neither victim nor hero. Just some kid who begins to order his world in a way that makes the most sense to him at a given moment… At the end of the day… isn’t that what we all do?”

John Legend – Our Generation (feat. The Roots)

In the same lane the Nas “Hey Young World” and Raphael Saadiq “It’s A Shame,” Levi’s Pioneer Sessions 2010 Revival Recordings links up with John Legend and The Roots as they record “Our Generation” – a classic by soul singer Ernie Hines. Definitely came out dope.
