Even BKMC, Talib Kweli is out here getting “Turnt Up” in 2013. For Life+Times latest segment of Decoded, the Brooklyn native breaks down his Prisoner Of Conscious track, saying he wanted to pay homage to Eric B. and Rakim’s Paid In Full, but still have that new school vibe to it, which is why he linked up with Trend from League Of Starz.
Check out what else he had to say about the record below.

We haven’t been short of new material from P-Money in recent times, with the New Zealand producer returning to connect with two guests for one of the smoothest jams that he has ever released. Based around some admittedly gorgeous vocals from Aaradhna, his latest release titled “Celebration Flow” gives us plenty of reason to look forward to warm months that are approaching, which includes a trademark verse from New York’s own, Talib Kweli. P-Money’s forthcoming album Gratitude is scheduled to be released worldwide on May 21st.

Talib Kweli Discusses The Making Of “Get By”

When “Get By” was first released in 2002, some thought Talib Kweli wouldn’t be a household name. In fact, some thought he was riding the coattail of a culture created by Yasiin Bey (Mos Def). 11 years later, well, Talib has stood the test of time and created his own lane.
Up top, Talib Kweli talks about the day Kanye West walked in the room with a handful of beats and what it was about “Get By” that caught his attention and ultimately made him buy all the beats on the spot. Originally planned to be used for Mariah Carey, “Get By” would soon be the hit-single Talib Kweli needed to push his solo artistry to the masses.

In just 24 hours leading up to the release of his fifth studio album “Prisoner Of Conscious,” Talib Kweli spent his day with OkayPlayer TV for a special ‘A Day In The Life’ episode. Kweli’s in the last stages of gearing up for the release with having to shoot two videos being “Human Mic” and “Hamster Wheel” which he goes on to explain the narrative and premise behind both songs. He also has a Sirius interview and set that same night as well.
“People think doing what you love for a living, that you work less from enjoying it. In order to be successful at doing what you love, you have to work twice as hard as everyone around you.”
