Novel has beena bit quiet lately, but fans shouldn’t be worried. It’s because he’s been locked inside the studio putting the finishing touches to his album Calligraphy. Not only that, but he has crafted another album he is going to throw out for free, called Grant Me Serenity. Stay tuned for that to drop soon. In the meantime, this is the first taste of the upcoming free99 album.
In one of the darkest records we’ve heard from Novel, he’s definitely airing out some issues on the track. For certain artists, it’s therapy. This is the perfect example of true life expressed through music. His upcoming album Calligraphy is due out later this year.
This record was also co-produced by MUZI.
Producer: Novel, Tony Reyes
Label: Lost Poets Music
“We Got It Bad” brought a lot of attention to Novel’s upcoming album, and he’s hoping to keep it going with a new leak for the ladies just in time for Valentines Day.
With the overwhelming response Spree Wilson received after his last leak “Don’t Pass Me By,” he continues the momentum with a new track featuring OS favorite and frequent collaborator Novel.
This record reminds us of some Cee-Lo Green x Janelle Monae shit by the upbeat vibe of it. We’ve never doubted Novel’s range either, so this feel good track should be something to get you going throughout the week. It was supposed be featured on Novel’s unreleased The Audiobiography album, which is now The Lost Tapes of his catalog. That “Broken Record” joint is tough.
This isn’t the first time these two collaborate on a track together (we first saw it on the Legato Blues Summer mixtape) and even though this isn’t on the upcoming Calligraphy album, it’s still something nice to play back if you’re on your R&B shit at the moment.
The video for “We Got It Bad” will be the new joint on 106 & Park tomorrow so be sure to catch that on TV when it airs. It’s also being added to rotation on VH1 & MTV. Congrats to Novel!
Truth be told, we’ve been wanting to conceive a child to Novel’s “We Got It Bad” since first heard it. That record is so smooth, we hope there’s been a pregnancy spike since its release.
This self-produced “Broken Record” is another track to be featured on his upcoming Calligraphy album. With no surprise, Novel keeps it all the way 100 on wax, and drops one for those who have dealt with a recent relationship loss. The silly games these females play.
With the success of their past collaborations and Defying The Predictable mixtape, Joell & Novel link back for another track for the fans. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from these two but they need to get in the booth and knock out an album together ASAP. Shout out to Mike H!
With a slight delay, Novel finally brings us the offering for Legato Blues Summer, the official mixtape before his Calligraphy album. With such a wide range of lanes he can take it on the music, Novel keeps it mostly to rap on this tape, but never leaves behind his knack for production or singing skills on the mic. Features include Robin Thicke, Jazze Pha, Smokey Robinson, Iron Solomon, Chrisette Michele and more.
If you haven’t watch his video for “We Got It Bad” we suggest you do that NOW.
Novel takes it to the booth to dedicate and have a talk with Hip-Hop alongside Jazze Pha, who was in the studio with him the other day, putting the finishing touches on his Legato Blues Summer. The mixtape is due out Friday!
The official video for Novel’s “We Got It Bad” from his forthcoming Calligraphy album due out later this year! The song is available on iTunes now!
Novel’s mixtape Legato Blues Summer is still in the process of being wrapped up, but before we can get the finished product on that, Novel blessed us with a track from his upcoming album Calligraphy. The duo of Joell Ortiz and Novel is unstoppable and this time they’re joined by Colin Munroe for this banger. Hopefully we get a video for this soon.
Cool out to the summer night vibe written and produced by Novel himself.
Here’s the official music video for “We Don’t Believe You” by Joell Ortiz featuring Joe Budden & Novel and directed by Rik Cordero. Look out for the new mixtape, YAOWA with DJ’s Green Lantern & Don Cannon in October. Also US-Europe tour dates will be coming soon.
Depending on our mood, we go back back and forth from liking rapping Novel or singing Novel. Most times, we have to give it to the singing Novel to drop some heat. This track, Tweet holds down the hook, while Novel spits a couple verses for something from his upcoming Legato Blues Summer mixtape. It’s been a second since we’ve heard from Tweet too. Where’s she been?
While we wait for the finishing touches to be put on the upcoming Legato Blues Summer, Novel drops off a track from his album Calligraphy which is due out later this year. Stay tuned for both of those projects to drop later this year.
If you didn’t peep the behind the scenes video we posted of the OnSMASH Invasion show by Novel, hit our videos section for a sneak peek. Shout out to Novel!
