Kendrick Lamar’s “Death To Molly” Message Explained
It probably came as a surprise to most, but Kendrick Lamar’s message in his “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” video was not subtle at all (see: “Death To Molly”). In his sit down with Sway for MTV, Kendrick explains that this is one of the terms that needs to be put to rest because it’s corny and waters down to culture. He goes on to mention that some rappers out there might rap about molly, but don’t really live that lifestyle.
Some trends he approved of that rap spawned? Jerseys and button ups.
If you peeped that Black Hippy “U.O.E.N.O.” remix yesterday, ScHoolboy Q had a little something to say about molly in his verse too.

Indy-Danish duo, Quadron (Coco O & Robin Hannibal) are planning the release of their second studio album “Avalanche” out June 4th. The album only has one guest appearance, which we have here with the Kendrick Lamar-featured “Better Off.”
You might remember vocalist Coco O from Tyler, the Creator’s “Treehome95” along with Music from Baz Luhrmann’s Film, The Great Gatsby earlier this month, as you get a taste of what Quadron can do on their own. This isn’t the first time Quadron and Kendrick Lamar have crossed paths, as the duo were also members of Boom Clap Bachelors, which K. Dot used material from his “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” from their song, “Tiden Flyver.”

In the next episode of J. Cole’s new “Born Sinner” series, his good friend Kendrick Lamar is featured. In episode one, we saw Cole’s mother Kay Cole share some of her story raising Jermaine, but now TDE emcee is up to share his upbringings in hip-hop. Kendrick opened up being born into the genre with his father playing Big Daddy Kane after birth on his way back home. As a kid, Kendrick caught on to rap at an early age noticing artist writing in journals for their current and past experiences growing up in inner-city communities.
In a recent conversation with Erykah Badu, she asked K. Dot what was his fulfillment out of music. He was stuck with words for a few moments, which Badu said she still hasn’t found what she’s looking for hoping he wouldn’t follow in her path. You can listen to all of this and more in the audio clip above.

Kendrick Lamar “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” Video Shoot (BTS Photos)
Tuesday afternoon, Kendrick Lamar began the shooting process for the visuals to his single “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.” Juicy J and Mike Epps are seen making cameos, but the big elephant in the room is whether or not Jay-Z will be in the music video to the recently released remix version of the song (we’re hoping he does, of course).
These upcoming visuals are a testament to Kendrick’s debut album “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” which has been in promo for over a year dating back to the release of his first taste with “The Recipe” live at Coachella. Whether Jiggaman does what the world wants him to do remains to be seen, but we should be in store for another epic K dot video. We all should be thankful Hov even blessed the record with rare verses.

Kendrick Lamar Interview At Paid Dues 2013
Last weekend, the 2013 edition of the independent Hip Hop festival, Paid Dues took place in San Bernardino, CA which included Black Hippy, Joey Bada$$, Dom Kennedy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and more. Backstage during the show, Power 106’s Rikki Martinez caught up with K Dot which he opened up about Erykah Badu being the one artist he’d like to collaborate with right now. Kendrick was asked about anything he could change in his career before the recognition was having patience for his career chasing after money instead of staying true to his vision and art initially.
Over the last 6 months, he cites his success as a new growth in terms of knowing what he wants in life in comparison to growing up as a teen wanting the lavish things with his natural maturing as an adult. He closes out with speaking on TDE’s best feeling knowing where they came from putting in the groundwork for years becoming one of the most well respected and talented camps in music thanking M.U.R.S. for an opportunity.
