Earlier this week Hov hinted at some big news during the NBA Finals and tonight he didn’t disappoint fans. During a commercial break, he announced that he will be releasing his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail on July 4 and the actual Samsung commercial was quite epic, as Jay had the whole crew out for a studio session that included Rick Rubin, Pharrell, Timbaland & Swizz Beatz. They all shared ideas and discussed music.

Jay-Z Signs Geno Smith To Roc Nation Sports
Jay-Z made another huge splash in the sports world today, by signing New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith. Smith now becomes the second NFL player under Hov’s Roc Nation Sports imprint, joining New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz. This is an important move for Jay (to be able to attract the next generation of stars in sports), as he recently also signed the very popular women’s basketball player Skylar Diggins.

Jay-Z Looking At Nassau “Veterans Memorial Coliseum” Renovation
NYC sporting venues have finally seen a turn for the best, with the Yankees and Mets both getting new stadiums; as well as the largest renovation ever for the roach and rat infested Madison Square Garden. One of the worst arena’s in the city is still Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, which is surprisingly standing on its own.
The 40-year-old-arena has been tenant to the New York Islanders NHL team since its opening, and are scheduled to join the Nets in Barclays Center for the 2015 season. Thursday, Jay and a corporate group attended a meeting to brief the media on four proposals for renovating the arena and surrounding properties.
While the details remain sketchy for what exactly is the plan (purpose) for renovating the arena; we’re glad for the people in Strong Island getting a new look arena.

One of the biggest soundtracks (and more so albums) this year, has been Music from Baz Luhrmann’s Film The Great Gatsby, serving as the soundtrack to the upcoming film. The entire soundtrack has been executive produced by Jay-Z which he opens up with “100$ Dolla Bills,” seen in the most recent TV spot and producing from Anton Monsted. Only one week removed from the album’s first single, Lana Del Rey’s “Young & Beautiful;” our intrigue level for hearing the OST increased drastically.
The entire soundtrack, which is available on in stores worldwide and iTunes this Tuesday, May 7th; also has features from Florence + The Machine, The xx, Beyoncé, André 3000, Emeli Sandé, The Bryan Ferry Orchestar, will.i.am, Gotye and Q-Tip among others.

It’s no secret that Jay-Z is executive producing the upcoming Great Gatsby film, and today BlackTree TV caught up with the mega star to talk about the film and some upcoming moves he wants to do in the film industry. Hov says that the collaboration came about when he was originally working on Watch The Throne, and says that the soundtrack is not typical, because the songs are all featured in the film in a certain context.

President Obama Comes Out To “All I Do Is Win” At Correspondent’s Dinner

Last night was the annual White House Correspondents Dinner, and if you’ve ever watched it, it is quite hilarious. The evening is filled with celebrities and jokes all around, and President Obama started the festivities with a bang last night, entering the stage to none other than DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win.” Wow, is all we have to say about that, Mr. President. The hip-hop references didn’t stop there, as he spoke on Jay-Z’s now famous trip to Cuba, saying “I got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one.”

Jay-Z Pens A Letter To The Brooklyn Nets
While it was previously reported that Jay-Z would relinquish his stake in the Brooklyn Nets to open up Roc Nation Sports, he has now taken it to Life+Times to the write a letter to the organization. In short words, he thanks everyone he worked with and most of all, Brooklyn, saying he is a Net forever. He is also looking forward to his newest venture in sports and music, and wishes the team the best of luck in the playoffs.

Beyoncé And Jay-Z Become Pop Music’s First Billionaire Couple
While Queen Bey’s became the face for H&M’s upcoming summer campaign, she’s just embarked on her “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour” which began Monday and will last through early August. The popstress is set to rack in $115M from the tour enabling herself and husband Jay-Z to become the first billion dollar pop couple in music.
Beyoncé has now surpassed husband the Jiggaman in revenue, as with her 58-concert series, she’ll be earning nearly $2M each date. Jay-Z, who graced the new cover for TIME Magazine’s “100 most influential people in the world”, is also keeping his business game up as well starting up his own sports agency which now manages Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and Giants wide-out, Victor Cruz.
As the couple have already made their mark in the entertainment industry as one of the most successful tandems all-time in the entertainment industry, the two are already in plans for upcoming solo albums which hopefully we can see official project announcements and(or) singles in the coming months.
