After giving Kendrick Lamar a hand on Saturday Night Live, Terrace Martin is back with a brand new cut for us to enjoy. With a complex project in the works, we get the chance to listen to a track titled “Why,” featuring California’s Jay Rock and help from Wendi Vaughn. With production from himself and Top Dawg’s Willie B, there’s no doubt that we’re left with a breathtaking mix of jazzy sounds. Although the song will miss out on his 3 Chord Fold album due to sample clearances, it’s always great to hear something fresh out of the studio.

While the good kid, m.A.A.d city album continues to dominate playlist around the world, Google Play recently caught up with K. Dot along with his TDE cohorts to discuss his entire music journey to becoming the biggest artist in rap currently.

Dave Free speaks on a time where he was in school and he heard Kendrick rap for the first time and immediately became intrigued to work with him which they eventually started a brotherhood. Dave posed as a computer technician to operate on Top Dawg’s computer and played a small demo he had Kendrick record in the background with Top Dawg wanting to meet him and the rest was history.

Watch this mini-documentary as the entire TDE family speaks on their long road to where they’re now at presently.

The Best TDE Videos Of 2012

God bless this TDE Fam Appreciation Week. We’ve seen new tracks from every member of the crew so far (only Kendrick is left) and a HILARIOUS video of ScHoolboy Q and K. Dot doing their own rendition of Rick Ross’ “Hold Me Back” live from a tour bus.

Seeing how the Black Hippy crew has given us, the fans, new music —we’d figure we might as well pay homage to them as well, by looking back at their best visuals of the year (so far). It’s really been a ScHoolboy Q takeover in 2012, but Ab-Soul definitely held shit down for the crew and Kendrick is in gear to drop a classic album in the coming months.

Shout out to Jerome D. and APLUS Filmz for holding down 98% of the visuals we’ve seen from the TDE camp thus far too. They work their magic and make it all come together visually for the world to see. Applaud these guys, they deserve it.

Check out our picks for the dopest visuals after the jump.

You Actin’ Like #TDE Don’t Run LA.. Fuck that! They run rap, period.
