The Week OnSMASH

It’s fair to say that the past week has been a fairly interesting point of the year. Over the past few months we’ve been provided with a number of videos from up and coming artist Julian Malone, which gives him the perfect opportunity to release the first official single from his new project. After taking on the production of Pusha T’s “Numbers On The Boards” last week, the rapper shows us his true self in the form of “Tokyo,” a smooth cut that allows Malone to express his rhymes in almost the finest setting. Expect to see the self-produced offering on his forthcoming Diff.Rnt mixtape this coming summer.

Alexander Spit – PCH

Reminiscent of the routine of releases that occurred with his previous project, Alexander Spit makes an appearance just a week after dropping his last track. The next instrumental from the multi-talented artist is titled “PCH,” and continues to prove his talent across several areas of the spectrum, showing the masses that his vocals aren’t always an essential part of his music. Who needs rhymes when the production up to this standard? Expect the single to appear on his forthcoming Mansions 2 mixtape on May 28th.

As we slowly approach the release of his next body of work titled Kismet, Mr. MFN eXquire returns with yet another teaser by releasing a long-awaited offering. We’re now given the chance to listen to “Illest Niggaz Breathin’” in its entirety, which sees the rapper continuing to portray his artistic sense in the form of more mysterious wordplay. eXquire hasn’t been one to follow the traditional trend of production over the years, and he rediscovers that sound alongside a guest feature from Goldie Glo. The song was originally intended to make the cut for his Power & Passion EP, but sample clearances stood in the way of its fruition.

It’s been a while since Noisey put together their last episode of The People vs. series, but we see the return of the discussion by sitting down with one of the collectives of the moment, New York’s own Flatbush Zombies. Like previous chapters of the Vice-generated brand have suggested, the trio spoke on particular replies on their video for “Thug Waffle,” with topics such as smoking, facial hair, grills, selling their souls to the devil, their type of sound and much more coming into the overall conversation.

Sunny & Gabe – Clouds

If you remember rightly, the last single we heard from Sunny & Gabe went by the name of “Fly” and was immaculately ready for the summer. Their brand new offering “Clouds” follows the traditional mood that they’ve made for themselves, which definitely gives us an indication of the cohesiveness within their new project. There’s something about the pair that sets them apart from plenty of other musicians, combining the perfect equation of joyful sounds with equally pleasant vocals. Expect their full-length Free Candy to see the light of day at a later point this year.

We haven’t been short of new material from P-Money in recent times, with the New Zealand producer returning to connect with two guests for one of the smoothest jams that he has ever released. Based around some admittedly gorgeous vocals from Aaradhna, his latest release titled “Celebration Flow” gives us plenty of reason to look forward to warm months that are approaching, which includes a trademark verse from New York’s own, Talib Kweli. FTSE – Tidal Wave (feat. Saint Saviour)

ftse

ftse-tidal-wave-ft-saint-1

Taking a slightly different approach to what we heard on a previous single with Kenzie May titled “Float,” FTSE releases the next offering ahead of his upcoming EP. One thing that instantly stands out on “Tidal Wave” is the British accent that is portrayed, but that shouldn’t take away the sheer quality of the production at stake. With a worthy contribution from Saint Saviour, we can’t help but feel impressed with the final recording, filled with all of the energy that he is well-known for. Don’t forget to look out for out his self-titled project on July 1st via Lucky Number.
