Microsoft officially announce the red Xbox 360
To celebrate the up and coming release of Resident Evil 5 Microsoft have officially announced their rumoured red console. It will be released on the same day as Resident Evil 5 (March 13th) and comes as a bundle with the following:
- Matching red wireless controller
- 120GB hard drive
- Resident Evil 5
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
- Exclusive Resident Evil Premium Theme
- Xbox 360 black wired headset
- HDTV-ready component HD AV, HDMI and Ethernet cables
It will be sold in select retailers accross the globe and it’s said to be just abit more expensive than the elite. If you were thinking of upgrading you should wait for this. Let us know what you think.
A 1,474 megapixel image of Obama’s inauguration
A dude named David Bergman used a device known as a gigapan imager to take 220 pictures of Obamas inauguration which link together to form an incredibly large and detailed picture. He has put it up onto his website to allow everyone to zoom in and look around the crowd and the surroundings. Go and take a look, the detail you get when you zoom in and the distance you can see is remarkable, see the face of anyone in the crowd. People on engadget have found P.Diddy, Denzel Washington, Tom hanks, Aretha Franklin and some snipers in the windows.

Apple’s latest quarter details: $1.61B profit
Apple just recently announced their profits for the last quarter and here’s the numbers. From $10.17 billion revenue they made a record $1.61 billion profit. Sales figures were up also, Macs went up 9% to 22.5 million sold, iPods were up 3% to 22.7 million sold and iPhones which you probably only care about….. up 88 % to 4.3 million sold, it’s a shame… more people will be walking around with my phone now, but congratulations Apple. Engadget also reports that “Apple’s now sold well over 10M iPhone 3Gs on top of beating its goal of 10M total iPhones in 2008″. I can’t wait to see what new devices apple come out with in 09. Also how many of you are using Macbooks ?
The new iPod nano and touch
It’s finally here the new nano, Apple have gone back to the older rectangular shape but have alot more colors available. As for features there is now alot more incorporated into the nano:
PS3 gets Dualshock 3
All you playstation 3 owners will be happy to hear that the PS3 will be getting a new controller much like the one we were all used to with the ps2. It still has six axis integrated into it but will now translate important events and actions on a game into controller vibrations.
“Sony says a simple firmware update will make the new controller compatible with all new titles and many that are already out.”
The old controller will stop being made soon enough with the dual shock set to arrive in the Uk in July and around the same time in the US, the price is said to be around 75 dollars for the controller.
iPhone 3G is made official ! available July 11th
Steve Jobs yesterday evening launched the most anticipated gadget of 2008, the 3G iPhone, packed with 3G internet capability, a sat nav system and Microsoft push email. Apple also claim that the 3G iPhone will be miles faster than other phones, boasting that the 3G iphone will load pages 36% faster than the Nokia N95 and Treo 750. Apple are using A-GPS, which supplements regular satellite GPS data with info from cellular towers for faster location. The 3G iPhone is slightly thicker in the middle (12.3mm over 11.6mm before) but thinner on the sides. Apple are hoping to launch in 70 countries this year, with the 8gb going for $199 and the 16gb for $299 both coming in black and white.

Samsung SGH-i900
Finally new pictures come out for the Samsung SGH-i900 and it is not looking bad at all. It is another phone which will enter the touch screen market but this one has alot of technology packed into it. It has a 240 x 400 display, 16gb inbuilt memory, 5 megapixel camera, WIFI, Bluetooth 2.0, Radio, HSDPA, GPS and uses the Opera browser. It looks great and boosts a heavy spec, now we have to wait for the price, i’m guessing $500/600 ish. Let us know what you think of it.
So Pharrell is making furniture now..
That chair Pharrell is sitting on is called the Perspective it was designed by Pharrell and built by Domeau & Pérès. The chair along with another design and a table will be part of a show in Paris “at the prestigious Emmanuel Perrotin Galerie“. Only 4 of each chair will be sold and they will only be available in a few colors. The chair itself is different i guess and it is meant to represent the “love between a woman and man”, the front two legs being female and the back two being male, work out the rest. Not sure on the price as of yet but what do you guys think of the chair design and idea ? there’s a closer up picture after the hurdle!.
The Cect Wrist Watch Phone
Now i would normally turn the page if i saw an article about a new watch cellphone, but this one might just be one to raise your eyebrows at. Even so i doubt there is a market for these since no one i know wants to walk around with a phone on their wrist right now, it’s not hot in the streets…. But feature wise this watch phone has GSM connectivity, a 1.3-inch color LCD, FM radio tuner, multimedia player, 1.3-megapixel camera and handsfree support via Bluetooth. As for the battery it allows 150 minutes talk time and 100 hours standby and for some reason it has the bonus feature of video playback, accepting 3GP and MP4 in full screen with built-in windows media player… nice.. watch videos on your watch… The price ? $293 (£150.13)
The Nike Dunk “Illuminated Confusion” by Evolved Footwear

I am.. these are called the Illuminated Confusion a custom pair of nikes made by the guys over at Evolved Footwear. The lighting on each shoe is powered by a single AAA battery and you can choose to have the light static or flashing. The price tag set at $400 and i think they would go well with my flashing wifi t-shirt… Let us know what you think. More pictures and a video after the hurdle…
Grand Theft Auto IV
Finally it’s here! Grand Theft Auto IV is officially out! Set to become the best and fastest selling console game of all time. Hollywood is also so concerned about GTA IV, some are saying that if Iron Man doesn’t do that well it will be due to gamers opting to stay in their house virtually robbing people over going to the movies. If you haven’t already bought it go NOW it will be your best purchase this year. If you already have the game and need help or want to discuss it head to the Video Game Central part of the forums. OnSMASH moderator newyork is also trying to get people together for a big xbox live meet so go to this thread and post your gamertags.
Playstation 3 due to add something called BD Live
What is BD Live ?? Well… the next firmware upgrade v2.20 will come with alot of new features for your ps3 including BD Live. What BD Live allows you to do is download ringtones, videos and interactive movie games from alot of the Blu-ray discs that you will buy in the future. Other features in the update allow you to copy photos and music playlists from your PSP via USB and to also use your PSP as a remote for control for songs. The final feature lets you resume a movie from where it was even if you take the disc out, if you need that. This is where i would normally say go and buy a PS3, but don’t, well you can if you want. Microsoft for life.
Grand Theft Auto IV News + Features
If you still don’t know GTA IV comes out on April 29th 2008!
- There will be 14 radio stations in the game. One is called The Vibe, which is RNB and soul. The other genres on offer include funk, reggae, jazz, dance, modern Jamaican, pop, hardcore, hip hop and a specific Eastern European station.
- Kikizo have posted all the controls for the Xbox 360.
- If you die, you go to hospital and get a text message asking you if you want to retry the mission.
- Cars are not customisable
- You can use your mobile in the game to call taxis and purchase weapons.
- There will be no desert or countryside in Liberty City but Liberty City in GTA IV is the biggest city Rockstar have ever created.
- There will be multiplayer, but it will not be a ‘massively multiplayer game’, there is a range of ‘standard’ multiplayer scenarios plus some that haven’t been tried before.
- As N. A. S. posted on the forums a Rockstar spokesperson says that if you play the game through doing side missions etc there is over 100 hours of gameplay.
- It is possible to do more than one mission at a time, some missions last over a few days in the game.
- One major feature is that not everybody’s story will be the same, Rockstar are trying to let people control their destiny in the game to a point.
I’ll post more news and updates as I receive them, but the game is shaping up to easily be game of the year.
New MacBook Pro features Multi-Touch trackpad
Apple gives us another Super Tuesday announcement, the new range of MacBooks. This week sees the arrival of MacBook Pro and Macbook range of laptops. The major feature is that the Macbook Pro will include the Multi-Touch trackpad technology that you can find in the MacBook Air. Like the MacBook Air the Pro has a LED backlit screen which comes in 15″ and 17″ sizes. Prices range from £699 to £949 for the MacBooks and £1,299 to 1,799 for the Macbook Pro.
