OS Flashback: Big Punisher – I’m Not A Player

Yesterday, Christopher Lee Rios or who we all known as the Big Punisher would’ve turned 41 yesterday, as we pay homage to one of the greatest emcees of all time. Today our OS Flashback series is dedicated to Pun’s classic, “I’m Not A Player” which even featured the The O’Jays present in the video singing the Darlin’ Darlin’ Baby (Sweet Tender Love) sample.

This was his first major solo single ever from his critically acclaimed “Capital Punishment” in which he received nearly flawless reviews from every major publication around the world. Pun would then go to become the first Latino rapper to go platinum and would even be nominated for best rap album at the 1999 Grammy’s.

While Capital Punishment was the only album released while Big Pun was alive, we all know what he would’ve went on to be because he was just too nasty in that booth. Every rapper, friend or foe in the past will always acknowledge Pun’s ability at spitting rhymes from the Lox to 50 Cent and even Jay-Z.

R.I.P. Big Pun cause it’s so hard to know your presence is not here a decade later.
