Album: Til The Casket Drops
Label: Hollywood Records
First things first, let’s just get one thing out of the way: This is not the type of song you’d expect to hear Kendrick Lamar on. Especially after singles like “The Recipe” and “Swimming Pools (Drank).” ZZ Ward is coming from the polar opposite direction of the music spectrum, bringing acoustic elements and country-blues into her sound. Then the beat switches up on the track and you feel K. Dot ready to EAT the track (which, he does).
On the low, ZZ worked with Freddie Gibbs for her last EP, and Asher Roth on Pabst & Jazz. We’re definitely going to keep an ear out for her music from here on out.
Her debut album Til The Casket Drops (No Clipse), drops October 16, 2012.
