Jerry Colangelo and Mike Krzyzewski finalized the London 2012 U.S. Men’s Basketball roster Saturday night. The roster is heavily influenced with the emphasis of age in which only 5 of the 12 Gold Medalists from the 2008 team are returning to action. Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade who won gold with Team USA in 2008 will not be able to compete this year due to injuries. Players who didn’t make the final cut were Eric Gordon, Rudy Gay and Anthony Davis who sprained his ankle and was forced to miss scrimmage this week.
With the imminent age limit implement by David Stern lingering for the 2016 games, the average age for the Team USA roster is only 26. Training camp opened Friday and will continue on through Wednesday.
