The Kid Daytona – Summertime In The City

With summer already upon us, we can’t help but to think of the good time we’re about to have. The sun will be shining, shortys will be in less clothes and the summer nights are what we’ll live for. To commemorate this experience, The Kid Daytona has reworked the classic Fresh Prince & DJ Jazzy Jeff “Summertime” record and put his 2011 spin on it.

SL Jones – Michael Jordan

Producer: Lex Luger
Mixtape: The Number 23: Editor’s Cut
Label: Made Entertainment
iTunes:

This month, SL Jones will be releasing the slimmed-down, non-DJ re-release of The Number 23. The re-release will be a 15-track project titled The Number 23: Editor’s Cut, and will be available both for free download and for purchase through all digital retailers, and as we approach drop date, today we’re releasing “Michael Jordan,” one of two new tracks that will be included on the project. As with “Driveby Music” before it, “Michael Jordan” is produced by Lex Luger. (The video for “Walkin’ Investment,” a song from the tape produced by Don Cannon, will be dropping sooner than later.)

SL Jones on “Michael Jordan”:

“Michael Jordan is a great example of someone exploiting their talents with a strong business sense; nobody benefited from MJ’s talents without him being involved in the decision. And as a result, long after his basketball career is over, he still remains one of most, if not the most, relevant brands in the NBA — and in sports. The original title of the mixtape, The Number 23, didn’t have anything to do with Michael Jordan, or sports at all — it was a reference to my Little Rock neighborhood 23rd and Wolfe Street, but MJ is the original Number 23, and this song is me showing my respect and adoration for what he was able to build. Not to mention, Lex Luger on the beat — a no brainer.”
